Excitement builds as 7 British Riders competing in the Virtus Para-Dressage Championships await the results of the international video event.
The UK Sports Association (UKSA), British Team is led by successful British rider Oliver Peace (Pontefract, West Yorkshire) who is joined this year by Kate Smith (Cheltenham, Gloucestershire), Mia Kerry-Prowse (Didcot, Oxon), Chris Bradley (Risely, Beds), Jonathan Kemp (Bridgewater, Somerset), Jodie Roberts (Deganwy, Conwy), Jonathan Adlam (Trowbridge, Wiltshire) all making their international debuts at the Virtus event.
As a direct result of a new collaboration between UKSA and Riding for the Disabled (RDA), this years British entry marks an important milestone in the development of a pathway for British competitors to this high performance Virtus opportunity.
Tracey McCillen, Chief Executive, UKSA said “I am thrilled to see our Team grow in 2021 to 7 top competitors from around the UK. This is an important event and one that I hope we will continue to build upon through our planned work with the RDA. Competitors have worked hard to get here through some challenging circumstances and I wish them every success with their entries.”
Ed Bracher, Chief Executive, Riding for the Disabled said “I am absolutely delighted that our collaboration with UKSA has led to more riders being involved in this important event. We are committed to supporting people to reach their ambition and this is a brilliant and new way to make that happen and ensure that more people can take part. “
In his 5th international appearance for UKSA and Great Britain, Oliver Peace says ‘I am very proud to be representing Great Britain and I will do the best I can for my country, my team, and my coach.”
The 2021 British Team comprises athletes with intellectual impairment (class II1) and athletes with autism (class II3), spanning the senior and youth events. British event entries were prepared in September 2021, with results expected 19th October.
